You can make this Creamy Sausage Pesto Tortellini recipe in about an hour, and it’s sure to be something the whole family will love. I’ll give you a rundown of the ingredients and directions below, but you can find the detailed Creamy Sausage Pesto Tortellini recipe on the printable recipe card at the end of this post.
Jimmy Dean Regular Sausage, tortellini, olive oil, onion, garlic, mushrooms, butter, pesto with basil, milk, flour, parmesan cheese, spinach, salt, and paper are all you need to make this creamy sausage pesto tortellini. Yes, that is all there is to it! Really, you probably already have most of it in your kitchen.
A summary of the directions with images can be found below; the recipe card at the bottom of the post contains the full instructions.
First, apply nonstick spray on the baking pan and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Sausage should be rolled into small balls and fried over medium heat until completely cooked. Put aside.
Follow the package’s instructions to prepare the tortellini pasta, but stop the cooking process about five minutes early.
Add olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat and sauté the mushrooms. When the mushrooms are soft, add the garlic, butter, and sauté them together until the garlic is fragrant and the mushrooms are soft. Add the pesto sauce and simmer for approximately one minute on low heat.
Mix flour into milk until lump-free, then mix into sautéed onions and mushrooms.
Add cheese and stir until melted and the milk sauce starts to thicken.
Add Jimmy Dean® Sausage Meatballs and cook on medium-low heat for about 2 minutes. Next, you’ll add fresh spinach and allow it to cook for about 1-2 minutes, stirring continuously.
Pour the cooked tortellini pasta into the baking pan, pour sauce on top and mix together.
Place in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top and allow to bake until the cheese is melted.
That’s it, not a whole lot to it and it’s a delicious dish, and you’ll probably have some leftovers too! Yes, to leftovers, sometimes it’s nice to have a night of cooking off.
