Do you like muddy buddies? If so, I think you’ll enjoy this Tie-Dye White Chocolate Muddy Buddies recipe; it’s super tasty and loads of fun.
Tie-Dye White Chocolate Muddy Buddies
I used Barbara’s Puffins cereal to make these Tie-Dye White Chocolate Muddy Buddies (aka puppy chow) and I was really happy with the way they turned out. However, if you don’t have Barbara’s Puffins cereal, you can use regular Chex cereal.
To make the Tie-Dye White Chocolate Muddy Buddies, you’ll only need the following six ingredients:
- A Bag of White Candy Melts
- Butter
- Heavy Whipping Cream
- Vanilla
- Powdered Sugar
- Sprinkles
- Barbara’s Puffins Cereal
I always like a few visuals to help me make sense of the directions. Some of you may, some maybe not but if you would rather not see the images and directions you are welcome to skip down to the end of the post where you’ll find the printable recipe card.
First, you’ll pour Barbara’s Puffins Cereal into a large bowl and set aside. Pour powdered sugar into a large Tupperware container, with a lid. You can also use a ziplog baggie.
Next, combine the candy melts, butter and whipping cream in a melting pot. If you don’t have a melting pot you can use the microwave or stovetop just be sure not to burn the candy melts. Once the candy melts are nice and melted, remove from the heat or turn your setting to warm and mix in the vanilla.
Pour the candy melts over the cereal and mix until cereal is completely coated.
Pour the sprinkles in with the cereal, don’t wait until the candy melts dry on the cereal completely. I added the sprinkles probably three minutes after pouring the candy melts over the cereal.
Once you’ve added your sprinkles mix carefully you don’t want the sprinkles to lose color, you just want it to absorb into certain spots of the cereal.
Once the candy melts are almost dry, pour them into your container with powdered sugar. Shake up the cereal until it’s nice and coated.
Remove from the bag using a strainer to make sure you get all the extra powdered sugar off.
TIP
If the muddy buddies are not colorful enough for you, pour them into a clean baggie, add a nice amount of sprinkles, and just get your hand wet and flick the water from your fingertip into the bag. You don’t need a lot of water at all; just flicking your fingers into the bag twice should be okay. If you require more color, you can repeat, but this should do the trick.
