This old-fashion peanut butter fudge recipe has been my family’s go-to Christmas fudge recipe for as long as I can remember, and I’m sure before I was born. You only need a few ingredients to make it happen, and once you get it down, it’s super easy and sure to be one that makes your taste buds do the happy dance.
Peanut Butter Fudge Recipe
Every Christmas for as long as I can remember, my aunt Nancy has made this peanut butter fudge recipe for the family. If we were not able to be together during the holidays, she would mail out boxes of cookies and never fail; she always included a special box of her peanut butter fudge.
Merry Christmas, I certainly hope you and your family enjoy this peanut butter fudge recipe as much as we do.
Ingredients:
- Sugar
- Salt
- Canned Milk
- Peanut Butter
- Salt
Directions:
Start out by preparing an 8×8 baking dish by lining with wax paper.
In a medium saucepan bring the sugar, canned milk and salt to a boil over medium-high heat. Be sure to stir continuously until it reaches a boil. Then turn down to medium heat, stirring occasionally until it’s finished.
If you are using a thermometer, the fudge will be ready when the temperature reaches 235 degrees. You can also do the ball test. To do this, you’ll need a cup of ice water and a metal spoon. After your fuge has been boiling for about five minutes, drizzle a little of the fudge from the pan into a cup of ice water. If you are able to form a ball, it’s done. To learn more about the ball test in more detail, check out this article on My Country Table.
Once it’s finished, remove from the heat and add peanut butter and vanilla. You’ll want to mix everything together quickly but completely so it doesn’t set up on you before you get it into your pan.
Pour into your prepared 8×8 pan and allow to sit for about 2 hours.
Cut into squares and enjoy.Â
