This year, I’m making a lunchbox resolution, and these Valentine’s Day Chocolate Pretzels go great in any lunchbox if you ask me.
I want to spend more time making fun and creative lunches for my kids. To give my lunchbox resolution a jumpstart, I made my kids Valentine’s Day chocolate pretzels and tossed them into their lunchbox with a few other fun lunchbox ideas.

Mattie told me that I couldn’t put any veggies in her lunchbox for Valentine’s Day, lol. So I asked her why, and I should have known it was because there isn’t green for Valentine’s Day. Moms these days! So I asked her if I could leave out the fruit cups and things like that for St. Patrick’s Day. She told me, “Mom, are you serious? Don’t you know they have grapes and apples that are green?” She also informed me that the Del Monte® peaches are not orange but more of a golden color, so they will work too. Smart kid, right?
I’m not sending Mattie to school without her vegetables, but I will make sure it matches by sending slices of bell peppers cut into hearts or something.
I love Valentine’s Day, and I love getting started a little early. I guess it helps me keep my head above water until spring, lol. I know not long after Valentine’s Day, spring will be here, so I’ve always enjoyed Valentine’s Day and tend to get started celebrating early. To start celebrating early, I’m sending my kids to school with a fun lunchbox for Valentine’s Day and making chocolate-dipped pretzels!
The girls and I are focusing on power words to help each other remember our good qualities—strong, caring, kind, creative, unique, etc. Each of us tells one another something we admire one another using a power word, and we choose one for ourselves and focus on these qualities during the day.
I started doing this because my girls are getting older and I want them to focus on their good qualities. It’s too easy to get stuck wishing you were skinnier, had different clothes, remembered not to flare your nostrils in public, etc. I just want my kids to remember how amazing they are. Which is how the whole Valentine’s Day lunchbox idea came together. I wanted to incorporate our power words into their lunchbox, and the Valentine’s Day theme seemed like a perfect place to start.
I decided to use a cookie cutter to make heart-shaped sandwiches and write my power word for them that day on the sandwich with an edible pen. I hope it puts a smile on their face. The kids will love opening their lunchbox and finding Del Monte® Mandarin Oranges and Mini Babybel® cheese inside. They are their favorites, and I’m sure they will like the yogurt with heart strawberries too, but I’m 99% sure Mattie will give her strawberries away and dip her Del Monte® Mandarin Oranges in her yogurt.
I also included the Valentine’s Day chocolate-dipped pretzels in the kid’s lunchbox.

Ingredients
- Pretzels any kind will work
- Chocolate
- Valentine’s Day Sprinkles
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate
- Dip the pretzels into the chocolate
- Lay pretzels on wax paper
- Sprinkle with your Valentine’s Day Sprinkles
- Allow chocolate to harden before removing them from the wax paper.
